Before I get going with my guests choices, I thought I would, for the record, give you my Desert Island Three.
Cleanser
OK no surprises here. I know I recommend it to pretty much everyone - but I genuinely use it every single day and panic if I'm nearing the end of the pot without a replacement to hand. I won't go into detail because if you read this blog regularly you'll know it all.
Emma Hardie. End of.
Toner
One of my very first blog posts was about Biologique Recherche and the power of their P50.
In all honesty it's not a toner - the term 'toner' is just too outdated now - this is a surface exfoliating treatment (my words!) for prepping the skin to receive serums/moisturisers etc. So it's used at the toner stage, but to compare this to your typical 'toner' is like comparing a Rolls Royce to a rickshaw.
Moisturiser
OK I can't possibly pick one moisturiser for all-time. It's the one thing you need to change as regularly as your choice of coat and so for that reason I'm listing my current favourites for day and night.
Day:
Yes it's Doctor P again. The Hypoallergenic Nourishing Moisturiser is part of the new range for sensitive skin and I have to say - it rocks. The texture is thick and luxurious but it absorbs beautifully and leaves the skin comfortable, not greasy or tacky. Love.
Night:
I wasn't going to split it into two but I always - always use a different product at night and recently it's been this gorgeous oil from Vaishaly. In light of recent comments on the Clinic posts - it seems a lot of you are still very cautious about using an oil on an oily skin. Please let me reassure you by saying: HOGWASH. This oil is specifically for Normal/Combination and I use it safely without it bringing up any cystic acne bumps.
It glides on beautifully, absorbs nicely and leaves the skin with an amazing glow. it also has that 'spa smell' that you only seem to get these days from facialist brands. Bliss.

I use Emma Hardie (thanks to you!) Tis' good :) Have yet to try the other three but I have always wanted to know what you use, as you are the mother of skincare xx
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading this, the cleanser sounds amazing! xxx
ReplyDeleteAh, you can't beat skincare posts from the BM! Your toner choice sounds really interesting. I feel suitably chastised about the oil business. I admit I'm frightened of oils for 'evening wear' as I just assumed the purpose was to layer. It's obvious that I've made an assumption here and we all know what they say about assuming! x
ReplyDeleteDo you know where to get p50 in london?

Just purchased 200ml Moringa balm from QVCUK for £44 with free P&P. I love this balm (and I have tried many) - just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI have just purchased a 200ml pot of Moringa balm from QVCUK (200897)for £44 with free P&P - best balm I have ever used -and I have used many!
ReplyDeleteErycina,
DeleteThanks for the tip, I have just ordered the Moringa balm from QVC, great price. Don't know how you knew the number because it's not on the QVC Emma Hardie page as in stock yet, but thanks all the same.
I have been using the Biologique P50 for a few months now and after trying to find it in London, I came across Toska European Spa Boutique and ordered from them.
ReplyDeleteI am a product junkie who has tried and tested everything and anything and this toner is unlike anything else. The smell is not pleasant but you soon get used to it. It will shrink the pores, keep your skin free of blackheads and diminishes the fine lines and wrinkles. Makeup alley has many reviews on it. I believe that the lactic acid in it helps with gentle exfoliation and then the witchhazel for shrinking the pores but the secret is the added vitamins and extracts that make up for exfoliating twice a day that make the P50 so much more than just a toner. After cleansing with Lait VIP 02, I use the Biologique Recherche MSR-H moisturiser which although pricey ($300)it's so much better than for instance Creme De La Mer etc and it does last a long time so totally worth it. I don't think my skin has ever looked better since I discovered the Biologique Recherche products. I do recommend that you have a consultation before you buy because the products vary in strengths etc. I emailed toska@toska-spa.com and she was very good at giving advice on proper use of products via email.
Hi, can I pick your brains on the EH cleansing balm. The directions say to mix the balm with water to make a milk, then apply but should I just apply the balm direct to dry skin and massage, then rinse? xx
ReplyDeleteYes that's how I think it works best tbh. I'm not big on turning into milk etc..
DeleteHi Caroline (or any other lovely BM reader), what is the main difference between Biologique P50 and Dr Frances Prenner Jones' Formula 2006? I'm wavering between the two and wondered if you have a professional take on which product is more effective? My goals would be to have clearer, fresher skin (with fewer blackheads). Many thanks, Niki x
ReplyDeletePS - i was going to wait until Thursday Clinic to pose the question as it's been on my mind, but seeing as Biologique P50 came up in your post above, I thought it was opportune to ask!
I've used both - personally I think the P50 has the edge. Probably just the formula - but especially the one with the phenol (unavailable in EU - you have to get in the USA) - that is exceptional.
DeleteThank you for the advice. I had noticed there is a Phenol-free formulation of P50 and that would have been my next question! Niki
ReplyDeleteI've tried both the P50 with and without phenol and have reordered the one with phenol because it works sooo much better than the one without it. The ammount of phenol is tiny so not worried about it.
ReplyDeleteThe P50! I read about it here first and can't tell you how amazing it is. Love it!!! I use the P50V. Make sure you order it from an authorized Biologique Recherche dealer. A little pricey for a toner but it's so much more than just a toner. Worth every penny, in my opinion! Louise
