Q & A with Leddra Chapman

As I mentioned yesterday Leddra Chapman has released 'Beauty With Heart' to support the Teenage Cancer Trust and its partnership with The Body Shop. Leddra is an English singer-songwriter currently touring the UK with her second album.

What's your first memory of The Body Shop?
When I was a child my mum used to let me go in to smell everything, I adored it. I loved the animal soaps that have just made a comeback, too!

What are your top five favourite products from The Body Shop?
The moisture foundation, gold shimmer eyeshadow cubes, super volume mascara, liquid eyeliner and the honey bronze collection is amazing.

Why do you think The Body Shop stands out from other beauty brands?
Because not only does it produce top end makeup and body products which are inspired by all things natural and organic, everything is fair trade. From the products themselves to the tables they are displayed on. The Body Shop go out of their way to trade with people in villages in need of work and that is the reason Anita Roddick created the business in the first place. Its campaigns are endless and everyone I have met who works at The Body Shop is passionate about them.

Has The Body Shop inspired you to think differently about beauty?
Definitely. I never quite realised just how much the values and campaigns meant to The Body Shop until I started working with them – human beings, animals and the environment come first, beauty comes second.

What does Beauty With Heart mean to you?
For me, Beauty With Heart means looking after your self-esteem before your appearance. Some people think that obsessing over their appearance is a way of achieving high self-esteem, whereas in reality I believe it does the opposite. Beauty is only skin deep; first and foremost it's about who you are beneath the makeup, and what it is that you stand for.

Beauty With Heart can be downoaded from Fairshare Music  for 99p.
