My love affair with Hydraluron (Hironsluron) is well known. Well, Indeed Labs have done it again.
This is one of those products that you don't know you need until you use it and then can't bear to be without it. I wanted to use it for a few weeks to test the claims of fading scarring and pigmentation.
Let me say this from the off: if you are young, have bouncy fabulous skin and no pigmentation or uneven skin tone - you won't love it like I love it. Because bitch you may not need it. (You will still see the benefits - but they won't be as WHOA as someone my age.)
If, however, you have a face that shows you're 30+ and have lived a good life (ahem), worship the sun enjoy sunbathing, have suffered with adult acne and the resulting scarring - any of the above really - then you could do a lot worse than to check this out.
Presented as an 'Intense Brightening Treatment' it claims to do the following (with my subtle comments next to them):
- Even skin tone - YES
- Reduce and lighten pigmentation - YES
- Prevent, treat and diminish dark spots - YES
- Restore luminosity and radiance - OHMYGOD YES
- Prevent photoaging - WHO KNOWS?
- Stimulate cell turnover - TOO EARLY TO TELL
- Maintain skin's hydration - YEP, USE LESS HYDRALURON AS A RESULT
In short, for me - its all about No. 2 - My acne scars are fading - and No.4 - as soon as you put this on your face it looks like someone has used QVC's soft-lighting-reserved-especially-for-you-know-who to make you look awake, alive and glowing.
What's impressive is what is left out of the formulation.
It does not contain any:
- bismmuth oxychloride - the ingredient most commonly used to give 'radiance' in eyeshadows/eye creams - also one of the most common allergens and the reason I can't use Bare Minerals.
- hydroquinone - banned in the EU but still widely available in a lot of high-end brands - naughty
- kojic acid - like hydroquinone - skin bleach
- mercury - d'uh - its mercury
- parabens - I don't actually mind about parabens - a lot of fuss about nothing that now has a myth attached to it. Parabens don't give you cancer. Chillax.
Now a part of my staple skincare wardrobe - if you look at pictures of yourself when you were 20 and say 'GOD I look so YOUNG' - this is for you.
pepta-bright is available from Boots for £29.99 - and is at the time of posting on 3 for 2. *sits on bank card*
Sidebar: I use it AM and PM religiously. Its a commitment people. Keep it up.
* PR sample

Great post - something to look out for after my spending ban.
ReplyDeleteI try and avoid parabens as I have sensitive skin, products with parabens tend to irritate my skin. I know others who have the same problem as me, so thats also one reason why many avoid parabens, not just the cancer thing.
Fair point, well made!
DeleteI'll be trying this very soon Caroline, really, really hoping that it will help my acne scars too. My skin has gotten so much better recently, but my redness on my forehead from the spots is still bothering me. Hope this will be the product I need.
ReplyDelete*thumbs up*
DeleteWow. You've done it again. I need this, now. My not so fresh payday bank balance hates this site, but my face loves it..
ReplyDeleteOn an unrelated note - do you have a good facial massage post/link to youtube? They all seem ridiculous and pathetic!

Not really - I'm always asked to do them but I just don't have the time!!!!
DeleteThis is exactly what I need right now... left with the usual dark spots after an onset of adult acne two months ago. Too bad they only sell this brand at Boots, I need to stock up everytime I go to the UK!
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteDo it!
*running to Boots*

*elbows you out of the way*
DeleteSounds amazing! I have scarring on my cheeks and overall just an uneven skin tone... I was prescribed Isorex by the dermotologist after I asked about getting rid of the scars but that's no good!
ReplyDeleteHow would this fit in to a regime? I currently go EH or REN cleanser, P50, Hironsluron and Origins moisturiser (which I'm not too sure about at the mo!)
Thanks :)
xx
in between P50 and HironsLuron.
DeleteHmm number 4 has got me! I didn't feel like Hydraluron made much difference with me but willing to give Indeed Labs another shot ;)
ReplyDeleteMaybe you weren't dehydrated enough for Hydraluron? You lucky cow! :)
DeleteUnfortunately not! Dry crappy arse sensitive skin :(
DeleteOoh, this sounds exciting! Where do you use it in your skin care regime, may I ask? Before/after/instead of Hydraluron? Which I must thank you for introducing me to, by the way - it rescued my retinoid-ravaged peely skin! x
ReplyDeleteSee new post! LOL You weren't the only one to ask!
DeleteThis Indeed Labs story is turning into a cult. You're the end of my bank account, Caroline!
ReplyDeleteSorry!
DeleteHello! I am 21 years old and my skin isn't too bad...but I have 1-2 acne scars I'd like to lighten. Is this good for me too? I use hydraluron on occasion as well ;)
ReplyDeleteyep!
DeleteLovely! Thank you =). Your blog is my holy grail ;)
DeleteGreat review - this sounds really good. Would you say it's the best dark spot corrector you've tried? I'm looking for a product to fade a small patch of dark pigmentation and have been debating between getting this or the Vichy idealia pro dark spot corrector which also seems to be getting good reviews. Not sure which one to get! Thank you! X
ReplyDeleteSo far for me yes.
DeleteHmm, I wonder if this is the right product for me. I'm in my 20s and I've got a lot of acne scarring on my cheeks (red marks).
ReplyDeleteGive it a go - its not an expensive mistake! :)
DeleteI am ordering this immediately. But do when do I use it...? Clarins toner, Hyraluron, then this, then moisturiser? xx
ReplyDeleteSee latest post :)
DeleteThis looks fab! I do have quite young skin but I have suffered from bad breakouts for a while and they seem to be going/gone and now I have lots of scarring - do you think this will work on me?! Thanks in advance :) x
ReplyDeleteIf the scars are relatively new then yes
DeleteWow this sounds absolutely amazing. I'm 20 but have a lot of acne scarring on my chin that just doesn't seem to fade. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and give it a go. Do you use it in place of your moisturiser or serum or in conjunction with them? xx
ReplyDeleteUnderneath moisturiser.
DeleteHi Caroline!! I'm 25 and have acne scars ancd scars from picking (i know!!) .. could this help me too? thanks, jennifer
ReplyDeleteYep should do.
DeleteThank you so much for replying! Should I avoid sunbathing or use spf when using this product? (i live in sunny italy)
DeleteYour posts make me laugh!!!! Guess my skin wasn't dehydrated enough for hydraluron, as I saw no difference, but hyper-pigmentation is my biggest erk, might have to give this a try.
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteThanks for your review, I am interested in trying this out for my acne scars so it's definitely going on my list now:)
ReplyDeleteLet me know how you get on!
DeleteWho at QVC gets the special lighting? would it be the sardonic comedian-jewellery designer? the American socialite of similar age to the former? or is it John Barrowman?!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't possibly shout about that. It's lovely light though - similar to the Isle of Wight.
DeleteOooh! Naughty Mrs H! But fascinating!!
DeleteOn another tack, what do you reckon about this for red marks left by rosacea?
Hard to say. It's acidic so could aggravate.
DeleteDamn you Hirons.
ReplyDelete*orders 3 immediately*
Soz.
DeleteHi Caroline - you are such an enabler I'll probs be picking this up next week to try! Been suffering with some scarring from blemishes that are very dark - my skin scars badly. I have also been getting redness around my nose and other areas - do you think this would help for this too? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe scarring yes - but it's not designed for redness as such. If it irritates only use it on the pigmentation.
DeleteHaha! You are funny!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get my hands on this. Thanks :)
Well thank you Caroline, now I need this in my life. And I'm not even in my 20s (19, will be 20 in April... but still). Oh goodness now I'll *have* to pick up Hydraluron Pepta-bright and something else, ha. xx
ReplyDeleteRaves 'nd Ramblings
Will anything shift scars from about 1 or 2 years ago?? X
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this review! Is this a similar product to the Ren AHA Resurfacing Concentrate? I want to fade red marks left over from old spots along my jawline

ReplyDeleteHi Caroline,
ReplyDeletesounds like something that just fits my bill. At the moment I am using Elizabeth Arden's Overnight Success Skin Renewal Serum and it has done wonders for my 28-yr-old-skin that gets a dark mark everytime I get a pimple. Do you think I should stick with Elizabeth or go with Pepta?
'd love to hear back from you.
Sounds almost too good to be true! Is it safe to use whilst pregnant or breast feeding? I am 37 weeks and have suffered with hormonal acne throughout whole pregnancy, resulting in plenty of scars... ;(
ReplyDeleteExplain to me how to get this in germany or austria and i will be forever thankful!
ReplyDeleteAlas, not available in the US right now (neither is Hyaluron...) I miss Boots! (But I can't give up this Southern California sunshine to return to the Midlands...)

Caroline! Thanks for your review, I have been looking for a proper review of this product for so long because I live outside the UK and have no way to purchase this except Ebay and obviously it means i Have to be sure about it. Can you let me know if you have ever tried Alpha H products?
ReplyDeleteThanks a ton for this review. Helps a lot because I live in USA and i have to buy this off ebay so I had to be sure about this.
ReplyDeleteAlso, have you ever tried Alpha H products? If so what do you think of them?
In how much time did you notice a difference with spots?I have post break out hyperpigmentation spots I am looking to target via pepta bright
Dear Caroline
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your posts- I am 47 years old with sensitive skin and sometimes still have breakouts along with a few wrinkles...
I went straight out and bought this- this is my second day and i can already see the difference- my skin has a new radiance and a better texture- really weird and cant believe i am saying this but true.
Thanks to you i now use-
clarins exfoliating toner- awesome
pepta-bright
hydralauron
moisturiser (i use cetaphil cleanser and moisturiser)
quick question- at night can i use pepta-bright and then a face oil (clarins)?

For all you Canadians, this product and others from Indeed Labs is available at Shoppers Drug Mart. The price of this was $39.99 at my local Shoppers. Hydroluron was $29.99.
ReplyDeleteHi, Hydraluron at Shoppers Drug Mart in the Toronto area is $24.99 (regular price) and I know this for sure since I've re-purchased it twice...well, actually got it for less it was on sale. BTW - I'm so in love with Hydraluron! My skin is combination or mostly normal I suppose and this product is amazing for me: it makes my skin plumper, supple, softer and radiant. I'll definitely try Peptabright...since I've tried just about everything else (except for two products) and it all seems to work well on my skin.:)
DeleteO
PS - Thanks Caroline it was your original review on Hydraluron that sold me in the first place. I really seriously LOVE it!
Oh you! You're good. I begrudgingly bought this yesterday, having missed out on the 3 for 2 offer coz I bought Hydraluron last week AND didnt have any point vouchers, but I digress. I have used this three times since and can totally notice a difference already! That and the Hydraluron combined leave this crazy layer of moisture on my skin that feels amazing! I am loving it and new scars already noticeably reduced! Yay.
ReplyDeleteDo you use moisturizer while hydraluron is still wet on your face?
ReplyDeleteLate to this one but wanted to give Indeed Labs a fair trial before commenting. I went a bit mad on the recent Boots 3for2 skincare event stocking up on old faithfuls and also trying new stuff, Indeed Labs being the major thing I brought to try. I bought the Eyesilix, Hydraluron, Pepta-bright & the Synoxin (I think that's what it's called, anyway).
ReplyDeleteVerdict so far, I don't love eyesilix (sadly, i find it a bit burny and not moisturising enough for me) and the synoxin is a bit silicone-y, but ok (I know you haven't mentioned this one but thought I'd try it for my frowny '11's'). I'll use them both up but won't repurchase. On the flip side, the Hydraluron has been pretty good for my combo/oily skin. I've been using it twice a day but I think I'd be better off reducing it to a couple of times a week and sticking to the areas where I have dehydration (cheeks and forehead lines) but that's more about my skin type than the product itself. For me, the star of the show/line up is the Pepta-bright. Christ on a cross trainer it is fab, clarifying, hydrating and lightweight. It is a staple product. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, Mrs Hirons.
Caroline, really interested in this! However, my only reservation is you mention that one of its claims is that it 'stimulates cell turnover' ....with the EGF serum this wasa bad thing right? How does it differ for the pepta-bright?
ReplyDeleteHi, i have read your fab reviews on Hydraluron and Peptabright and can't wait to use them as i have combo oily skin and its pretty dehaydrated. Pls advice where i should use both in my regime.
ReplyDeleteCurrently i use:
Cleanser - Emma Hardie emma moringa cleansing balm
Toner - Liz Earle Instant Boost™ Skin Tonic ( I love)
Serum - Suti Rejuvenate Face Oil (not really doing anything for me but am persevering)
Moisturiser - Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream
Btw I am 39 and eagerly awaiting your response. many thanks
Anyone know of any safe online retailers that ship to Europe that stock this? :) x
ReplyDeleteI worship you. You have transformed my skin!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI've been using the Indeed Esyllix eye cream and I do notice a difference in the dark circles under my eyes. I'm hoping it will help with the bags over time!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to ask, I have really deep lines on my lips from excessive peeling and biting and is there was anything that could help with that? I'm in my early 20s but I've spent the past few years as a stressed out student and now I've had a breather I'm realising all the abuse I've my body through! They're pretty deep to the point that lipsticks and whatnot don't really hide them.
Thank you!
Hi, I am 19 and have bad acne scarring and still get breakouts now, I have been using kiehl's midnight concentrate and Alpha H liquid gold on alternate nights for a month and now have hardly any breakouts and have seen my scarring start to fade slightly.
ReplyDeleteI want something to use in the day so this looks perfect, but my skin is so sensitive, do you think this would 'clog' my skin? Or do you have another recommendation?
I want to help with scarring but I don't want to bring back more spots in the process :)
Thankyou! x
